Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents his first championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.
Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.
However the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.
Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour victory, took control to force a final set.
The opponent rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, he secured the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
