An individual who laced candy with sedative and gave them to children at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual offences against two boys both nine and 10.
The defendant was detained after eight youngsters and one adult became sick at the location in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed a single sexual charge he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on 28 November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the children, the legal counsel explained, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She told the court the man had played this game with the children "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about what was going on, justifiably.
"They resolved" to investigate in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor explained objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his family member contacted the authorities about his suspicions.
She explained the defendant proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Authorities" had not responded by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The prosecutor stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member called the authorities once more.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "candy game" in a space of five children.
